Trainee Patent Attorny
Tom is a Trainee Patent Attorney at Appleyard Lees IP LLP.
Tom graduated with a first class Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Manchester. In his final year project he worked to characterise electron transport in solar cells, making use of a patented photoresist material. He particularly enjoyed modules covering semiconductor and solid-state physics, and also took a number of courses in C++ programming.
Since joining the patent profession in 2017, Tom has gained valuable experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and the US. He regularly performs patent searches and has helped to conduct IP audits for a number of multinational clients.
Tom and the team at Appleyard Lees are instrumental in the protection of AMRD’s intellectual property, working closely with the Core Team to advise on IP strategy, invention spotting and building a valuable IP portfolio.
